About Dr. Shaikh
Dr Shaikh graduated from Sind Medical College Pakistan, now called Jinnah Sind Medical University in 1987. He did residency in both surgery and medicine in Pakistan and moved to United states in 1992. Here he did 3 year residency in internal Medicine from New York Methodist Hospital, affiliated with Cornell University, New York. He then moved to Belhaven, NC and practiced there for 5 years, establishing and supervising new ICU of the hospital. He was also involved in teaching medical students from Brody Medical School, affiliated with East Carolina University as a Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical preceptor from 1996-2000.
Dr. Shaikh then moved to Research Triangle and opened his private practice, Shaikh Medical Clinic in Garner, NC in December 2000. He is affiliated with both Wake Med, Raleigh Hospital and UNC-Johnston Hospital.
Dr. Shaikh has been Board Certified Physician with ABIM from 1995-2015, and with National Board of Physicians and Surgeons from 2016 to date. He has also received a Masters, MHS-CLP from Duke University, NC in 2009. He is also a member and fellow of American College of Physicians, FACP.
Dr. Shaikh is also an adjunct clinical professor at UNC Chapel Hill School of Nursing. He also serves as the Medical Director of Brian Center Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Clayton. Dr. Shaikh is among the founding members of Mariam Clinic, which provides care to uninsured patients from Wake & Durham counties.
